Are good manners universal (i.e. the same in all cultures)? 1. say «please» and «thank you». 2. don’t interrupt. 3. arrive on time. 4. close your mouth when you chew or sneeze. 5. think before you speak. 6. shake hands when you meet. 7. use a quiet voice to chat. 8. be friendly to people. 9. don’t phone late in the evening. 10. smile. 1listen before you speak. Ты даешь невозможную работу, но вот Let’s imagine. You’re watching TV. It’s a hot evening: You feel thirsty. You see an advert for a refreshing drink. You see people looking cool and relaxed. You notice the name of the refreshing drink because you think it could be useful for you to satisfy your thirst. Advertisers study how people learn so that they can ‘teach’ them to respond to their advertising.

They want us to be interested, to try something, and then to do it again. These are the elements of learning: interest, experience and repetition. If an advert can achieve this, it is successful.

If an advert works well, the same technique can be used to advertise different things. So, for example, in winter if the weather is cold and you see a family having a warming cup of tea and feeling cosy, you may be interested and note the name of the tea. Here the same technique is being used as with the cool, refreshing drink. If advertisements are to he learned, there is a need for lots of repetition. But advertisers have to be careful because too much repetition can result in consumer tiredness and the message may fall on’deal ears’.

Consumers learn to generalize from what they have learned. So advertisers sometimes copy a highly successful idea that has been well learned by consumers. For example, the highly successful ‘Weston Tea Country’ advertising for different tea has led to ‘DAEWOO Country’ for automobile dealers and ‘Cadbury Country’ for chocolate bars. If we look back at its history, we will see that there were several foreign communities living in Moscow on a permanent basis. We all know about German people inhabiting the banks of the Yauza river, where little Peter, the future tsar of all Russia, ran around, made friends and got his first ideas of learning about ships and fleets. But what do we know about the British community of Moscow? Did it even exist? B. The first ties between Russia and Britain were formed in the middle of the 16th century in the time of Ivan the Terrible. It was then that some wealthy British merchants founded the Muscovy Company which held a monopoly on trade between Britain and Russia until 169The building of its Moscow headquarters was granted to the company by the tsar in 1556 and can be still visited at 4, Varvarka Street, known to us now as The Old English Court. С. Beginning from the time of Peter the Great, several talented British military men moved to Russia. Many of them served as army generals and navy admirals, defending Russian borders in different wars and battles. Among the most famous ones were Field Marshall James Bruce, Field Marshall Barclay de Tolly and Admiral Thomas Mackenzie, all of them of Scottish origin. D. In the 18th century, British industrialists made themselves known in Russia. One of the most outstanding figures was Robert McGill, who lived in Moscow and served as an intermediary between Lancashire mill engineers and the Russian cotton industry, and built over 180 mills (cotton factories) in Russia. Robert McGill had a house in Spiridonovka Street and together with his wife Jane was a prominent member of the British community in Moscow. E. If you talk to Moscow concert musicians who were active between the 1970s and the 1990s, they will tell you of the fantastic acoustics of the “Melodiya” recording studio at 8, Voznesensky Lane, which they lovingly called ‘kirche’, mistakenly thinking it was a German church. This building, designed in the English neo-gothic architectural style, was in fact built in 1885 by Robert McGill and is St.

Andrew’s Anglican Church, which was used as a recording studio in Soviet times. Перед Вами на экране 5 незаконченных предложений A — Внимательно прочитайте их. A Look at the Buena Vista Street Holiday Reopening! Disneyland fans were thrilled that one of the theme parks finally reopened—at least in part. Buena Vista Street, the first land in Disney California Adventure welcomed Downtown Disney guests to shop and dine. The holiday season was in the air as green garland decorated the streets with red bells and bows. Jazzy Christmas music played throughout the park, bringing back the 1920s era from when Walt Disney roamed similar streets. Guests needed to line up early to be one of the first in the land on opening day. Some told us they got to the resort as early as 4am! Though all guests needed to wait outside of the gates until around 9:30am, anyone who came after 8am waited a few hours after joining a virtual queue. It seemed that once inside Buena Vista Street, no one wanted to leave for a couple of hours! Parking can be a bit tricky as Disney doesn’t open its Simba Parking lot until around 9:45am. Checkin for Buena Vista Street is near the entrance of Disney California Adventure and the ticket booths.

Disney is also now charging $10 per car for parking. So if you’re planning to visit, you may want to check out surrounding parking by downloading the app, SpotHero. We were able to park at a nearby hotel for under $10 and walk about 15 minutes to Disneyland’s entrance. Shopping and Dining on Buena Vista Street. There’s plenty to see and do once inside the land. Shopping at Elias & Co had a short wait that curled around the storefront.

Inside were plenty of holiday gifts and apparel to purchase. Many were repeats of what was available in the World of Disney and the Backlot Store. Overall, Disney didn’t overcrowd Buena Vista Street. There was plenty of room to spread out and maintain proper physical distancing. Guest face mask compliance was super high and Cast Members did a great job of reminding people to wear their masks properly. Anyone eating or drinking must do so away from others either on one of the many tables or benches places around the park. Though noticeably missing was the Christmas tree across from Carthay Circle, we were happy that it didn’t have guests crowding around to snap photos with it. The three main dining spots of Buena Vista Street include Carthay Circle Lounge’s Alfresco Dining, Award Wieners, and Smokejumpers Grill.

This was great because it meant that guests could wander down parts of Hollywood Land and Grizzly Peak. There was even seating in front of Soarin’ the ride! All food was served to-go in paper bags or boxes that you can enjoy around the park. Carthay Circle Lounge only took walk-up reservations. Slots also filled pretty quickly, but guests could check back to see when spots opened again. Mobile ordering is also available at Smokejumpers and Award Weiners. However, it’s important to note that placing a mobile order won’t grant you access to Buena Vista Street.

Though Carthay Circle Lounge has an extensive menu of bites, the other two spots are fairly limited. Smokejumpers had burgers and chicken strips. Award Wieners had corn dogs. We tried the seasonal Apple Pie Funnel Cake Fries at Award Weiners and they did not disappoint! The delicious pieces of funnel cake were covered in sweet apple pie filling and topped with whipped cream, cinnamon, sugar, and pie crumbles! Related Posts toOne of the biggest surprises was the snack cart on the other side of Carthay Circle.

Here guests could enjoy classic Disneyland snacks like Mickey ice cream bars, jumbo turkey legs, ice cream sandwiches and Coke products. However, we did notice the spicy Angry Dog typically exclusive to Pixar Pier! Most of the snacking locations also serve beer and wine beverages. However, Carthay Circle has plenty of cocktail options. Also to our surprise was how much space guests could roam. We could go all the way down to the entrance of Avengers Campus and peek at the construction. The buildings looked great as they poked over the top of a Stark Industries fence. We can’t wait to finally experience the new land as its scheduled to open now in 202We expect that Buena Vista Street is going to be especially popular over the next few weeks. As Orange County now has restrictions, including a 10pm-5am curfew until mid-December, limited hours could come into effect. For this reason we highly recommend visiting Tuesday through Thursday if possible to avoid the demand by other guests.

F. Another spectacular example of British architecture in Moscow is the old building of TsUM next to the Bolshoy and Maly theatres. Built in the early 1900s, it was back then the biggest department store in Moscow.

It was owned by Scottish merchants Andrew Muir and Archie Mirrielees.

Mayakovsky mentions Muir&Mirrielees in several of his poems, while Chekhov named his dogs after its two owners. G. In 1887, two other cotton industrialists from Lancashire, Clement and Harry Charnock, moved to work at a cotton factory in Orekhovo-Zuevo, near Moscow. They were both great football fans and decided to introduce this game to the workers of the factory. This resulted in the first professional football team in Russia which after the Revolution became the core of Moscow Dynamo team.
